DESCRIPTION:# Overview\n\nThis 3-day advanced course is targeted at life sc
 ientists or bioinformaticians using the R statistical software who want to
  extend their knowledge.\n\nLectures will be conducted in the morning\, wi

 * Data structures in R\n* R internals\n* Object-oriented programming in R\
 n* Best practices for programming in R\n* Using R to conduct reproducible 
 analysis\n* Manipulation of data within R\n* Profiling code\n\n# Audience\
 n\nThis course is designed for PhD students\, postdoctoral and other resea
 rchers in the life sciences from both academia and industry who are using 
 the R statistical software and want to extend their knowledge.\n\n\n# Lear
 ning outcomes\n\nAt the end of the course\, the participants are expected 
 to:\n* **identify** where to reduce the number of potential errors and bug
 s when programming in R\n* efficiently **use** R data structures in order 
 to store and process their data\n* **infer** how to profile their code to 
 find and remove bottlenecks in order to make it run faster\n\n# Prerequisi
 tes\n\n##### Knowledge / competencies\n\nThis course is designed for advan
 ced users **who are already comfortable using the R statistical software i
 n practice**. Having attended the "First Steps with R" SIB course does **n
 ot** provide enough background to follow this course\; regular practice wi
 th R extending beyond the First Steps course is required.\n\nIf you are un

 with the latest [R version](https://www.r-project.org/) and [RStudio](http
 s://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/) installed PRIOR to the cou
 rse.\n\n# Application\nThe registration fees for academics are **300 CHF**
  and **1500 CHF** for for-profit companies. While participants are registe
 red on a first come\, first served basis\, exceptions may be made to ensur
 e diversity and equity\, which may increase the time before your registrat
 ion is confirmed.\n\nYou will be informed by email of your registration co
 nfirmation. Upon reception of the confirmation email\, participants will b
 e asked to confirm attendance by paying the fees within 5 days.\n\nDeadlin
 e for free-of-charge cancellation is set to **10/08/2026**. Cancellation a
