DESCRIPTION:# Overview\nR is a complete\, flexible and open source system f
or statistical analysis and graphics\, which has become a tool of choice f
or biologists and biomedical scientists who need to analyse and visualise
large amounts of data. Due to its popularity\, R is continuously updated a
nd extended with the latest libraries for data manipulation\, modelling an
 d visualisation. \n\nThis 2-day course provides an introduction to R and R
studio\,an integrated development environment for R\, in an interactive ma
nner. Participants will receive example data sets to practise data manipul
ation\, graphical exploration and statistical hypothesis testing.\n\n# Aud
ience\nThis course is designed for PhD students\, postdoctoral and other r
esearchers in the life sciences from both academia and industry who want t
o become familiar with the R syntax\, environment\, and the most common co
mmands to start using R to explore and interpret their data.\n\n# Learning
outcomes\nAt the end of the course\, participants are expected to:\n* **u
se** the R environment to read\, understand and write R commands\n* **exec
ute** a data analysis workflow to import\, explore and summarise data\n* *
*explore** data with graphs\n* **execute** simple statistical tests\n\n\nT
his course is part of the SIB [**Data Management**](https://www.sib.swiss/
 training/learning-paths?path=data-management) training pathway. Upon compl
etion of this course\, you may wish to attend the [Make Your Research FAIR
er with Quarto\, GitHub and Zenodo](https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/
 QUART) course.\n \n\n# Prerequisites\n\n#### ***Knowledge / competencies**
*\nNo background in R or any programming language is required. If you wish
to get an early start on the course content\, you can scan some of the R
 documentation available [here](http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-rel
ease/R-intro.html).\n\nPlease note that **this course does not provide tra
ining on statistics** but on how to use R to perform different tasks\, sta
tistics being one of them.\n\n#### ***Technical***\nA Wi-Fi enabled laptop
  with latest [R](https://www.r-project.org/) and [RStudio](https://www.rst
 udio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download) versions installed. There wi
ll be access to the eduroam and guest network. \n\n# Application\n\n\n \n\
