DESCRIPTION:**This course is reserved to researchers in the Basel area and

 hey are in your registration.**\n\n## Overview\n\nThis full-day course has
  a practical focus\, where participants will learn how to use the Linux co
 mmand line and interact with the sciCORE cluster. All new users of sciCORE
  are strongly encouraged to follow this course.\n\n## Audience\n\nThis cou
 rse is restricted to members of the University of Basel and associated ins
 titutes who want to use the sciCORE cluster. It is designed for PhD studen
 ts\, postdocs\, and group leaders without (or very little) experience with
  Linux and the use of high-performance infrastructures.\n\n## Learning out
 comes\n\nAt the end of the course\, the participants should be able to:\n\
 n* **Obtain** basic knowledge of the Linux/UNIX environment\n* **Obtain** 
 basic knowledge of high throughput and high performance computing\n* **Lea
 rn** how to use the sciCORE infrastructure for scientific applications (in
 cluding hands-on exercises)\n* Tips and tricks for effective and efficient
  cluster usage (eg compute and storage usage guidelines)\n* **Discuss** pa
 rticular computing needs and requirements of course participants\n\n## Pre
