DESCRIPTION:## Overview\n\nThis full-day course has a practical focus\, whe
 re participants will learn how to use the Linux command line and interact 
 with the sciCORE cluster. All new users of sciCORE are strongly encouraged
  to follow this course.\n\n## Audience\n\nThis course is restricted to mem
 bers of the University of Basel and associated institutes who want to use 
 the sciCORE cluster. It is designed for PhD students\, postdocs\, and grou
 p leaders without (or very little) experience with Linux and the use of hi
 gh-performance infrastructures.\n\n## Learning outcomes\n\nAt the end of t
 he course\, the participants should be able to:\n\n* **Obtain** basic know
 ledge of the Linux/UNIX environment\n* **Obtain** basic knowledge of high 
 throughput and high performance computing\n* **Learn** how to use the sciC
 ORE infrastructure for scientific applications (including hands-on exercis
 es)\n* Tips and tricks for effective and efficient cluster usage (eg compu
 te and storage usage guidelines)\n* **Discuss** particular computing needs
